Keidel Supply Co. Inc.
Company History
Art Keidel Sr. founded Keidel Plumbing in 1911.

He began as a journeyman plumber and pipe fitter, contracting his services to local businesses. His son, Art Keidel Jr, joined his business in 1934.

In 1936, during the great depression, he joined a group of local plumbers to form a buying group called Unity Supply at 12th and Vine St. in downtown Cincinnati. The business became secondary in 1941 when Art Keidel Jr. left to serve his country in World War II.

When the war ended, Art Jr. returned home and took charge of the company. In 1945, he moved the business to his home on Delaware Ave in Norwood, the site of the present showroom. He lived upstairs; his father downstairs. He changed the business name to Keidel Supply, and later incorporated under that name.

He bought a second store in Westwood in 1953, built the Norwood warehouse in 1956, added a Westwood warehouse in 1960, expanded the Norwood showroom in 1964, and in 1976 he bought property in Sharonville that soon became a third selling branch and the company's master shipping warehouse.

Upon Art Jr.’s death in 1991, his son, Barry Keidel assumed the role as President of Keidel Supply. He continued to expand the business, opening a fourth selling branch in Withamsville in 1995. In 1997, an exclusive cabinetry and appliance showroom opened in Kenwood.
The year 2001 marked the grand reopening of the newly remodeled Norwood showroom. The Westwood store was remodeled in 2005. In 2007, an expanded appliances showroom was added to the Kenwood store, and the Withamsville warehouse was relocated to Norwood.
In 2009, Mike Barton, formerly of Mutual Manufacturing in Cincinnati, was named CEO, with Barry Keidel continuing as President. In 2010, John Robinson was appointed V.P. of Operations.
In 2010, the company formed a new lighting division with the purchase of Central Light.
Also in 2010,the pre-construction phase began for a new showroom and central distribution center located in Paddock Hills. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2011, this new modern facility will enable us to expand our product offering and further enhance our long standing tradition of excellent customer service.
