When building a house and choosing upgrades, most people concentrate on the things they can see ... like carpet, wall coverings, door hardware, etc.
Plumbing systems tend to be out of sight, and out of mind. But the sad fact is, plumbing problems are among the top "after construction" complaints voiced by homeowners.
Leaky basements, flooding due to broken hoses and leaking water heater tanks, noisy pipes, not enough hot water, etc., are all problems that should be addressed
before they start ... and that means at the time of construction.
Plumbing "upgrades" are relatively inexpensive while a house is being built. Adding them later, after the damage is done can cost thousands of dollars.
Unfortunately, most builders don’t offer a "plumbing upgrade" package (other than fixtures) ... and if you don’t know what to ask for, you are not going to get it.
