Vessel Sinks

The most elegant form of bathroom sink today is the
Vessel. Reminiscent of china washbasins with finished inside and outside walls, vessels are made from Spun Glass, Lead Crystal, China, Fireclay, Earthenware, Cast Iron and Stainless Steel.
For detailed information on sink materials, see: Comparison of Sink Materials
Vessels can be installed to rest above the counter top as their original counterparts were. Some can be installed with a wall-mount bracket. Spun Glass and Cast Iron Vessels can also be installed in a self-rimming application, or under-the-counter.
If you want a vessel type lavatory, you must make this decision before construction begins, because the wall-mounted faucet pipes must be roughed in before the drywall is installed.
Very few vessels have pre-drilled holes for faucets. Deck-mounted faucets for vessel sinks must be extremely tall to clear the bowl. Stylish wall mounted faucets are the best choice.

Because vessels generally sit on the counter and are completely exposed, this is not the type of sink to have in a family bathroom, especially where young children will be using the sink.
If you choose a
glass vessel, look for tempered or laminated glass. Plain glass will shatter on impact.
Of all lavatories, vessels offer the widest range of sizes, shapes, styles and colors. Below are just a few examples:
